Change in HMRC – VAT registration helplines

From 22nd  May 2023, HMRC is closing its help line that assists companies in its VAT registration application process.  Advisers working in this help line team will be deployed to assist in processing VAT registration applications  in order to ensure a more efficient service.   

With respect to updates, taxpayers should expect a reply within 40 working days, if no reply is received from HMRC within that time frame, taxpayers should contact VAT registration team by e-mail.  

HMRC is confident that this solution is going to improve their customer service levels by allowing more employees to work on processing of applications, however the decision to close the VAT registration helpline will be constantly under review.
