Latvia – Proposed 12% VAT rate on fruit and vegetables

The Latvian government is planning to increase the reduced VAT rate on fruit and vegetables from 5% to 12% from the 1st January 2024. The reduced VAT rate of 5% was introduced in 2018 as a pilot project for three years, which the government then agreed to extend until the 31st December 2023.
